Your favorite rapper’s favorite rapper is back, and he has a lot to get off his chest. J Cole has been quite lately in these industry streets, but that will soon change once he officially drops his new album on December 9th titled 2014 Forest Hills Drive. He chose to be very low key and organic with promoting his newest LP by not releasing any singles and by inviting fans to a listening party in his old neighborhood which is the title of the album. Even with taking precaution, a track called “Fire Squad” from the LP leaked on the internet and it has already stirred up some controversy.
In the single, the North Carolina native took shots at some famous white artists like Iggy Azalea, Eminem, and Macklemore. A verse from the song goes:
"History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes.
Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows.
Same thing that my nigga Elvis did with Rock ‘n’ Roll;
Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore.
While silly n*ggas argue over who gon’ snatch the crown,
Look around my n*gga white people have snatched the sound.
This year i’ll prolly go to the awards dappered down.
Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.
I’m just playin, but all good jokes contain true shit.
Same rope you climb up on, they’ll hang you with.”
OUCH!! It’s a Cole World out here. We can’t wait until the LP drops!
